Week 1 Post

With the way the mind thinks in so many different ways, I’m amazed that so many people can share such similar ideas.  A person’s creativeness is somewhat of a trait to his or her own characteristic.  It gives us an idea of what is going on in their mind and it opens up a special talent to the world.  But there are only a few who open themselves up to sharing these characteristics.  As Bohm said, “For there are a tremendous number of highly talented people who remain mediocre”(Bohm 138).  If all the people in the world today applied themselves to something useful, then our civilization would be much higher.

(The world as we are in today, with separation between rich and poor, but so closely in contact with each other. http://bluebeerriver.blogspot.com/2012/12/rich-and-poor.html)

The separation between rich and poor discussed in the lecture becomes even more separation in the next lecture video, as these groups begin stereotyping others in their groups.  There has never been true equality, may it have been race, religion or skin color.  Such a high percentage of people do not have any tolerance or respect for others who aren’t similar or a different culture.

The separation at UCLA, could be commonly known as the two ends of campus (North and South Campus).  North Campus is home to the student who has a broad imagination and expands his/her thoughts in ways of arts or philosophical ways.  Here you’ll find statues and sculptures throughout the area giving it an artistic, open-minded scene.  South Campus is for the students who prefer every answer to have an exact outcome.  Everything here is plain looking, and buildings built straight up, and it seems as if no one has the
time to put in an artistic touch.

(The Berlin Wall portrays the UCLA campus, as it has a colorful side, and right on the other side is more of a strict hard nosed plain side. http://designpassions.blogspot.com/2011/08/berlin-wall.html)

Does being in a more artistic place boost learning abilities? It would make sense if it did, but then again it applies to the student and how open they are to creativity. http://education.byu.edu/news/2010/11/05/building-creative-learning-environments-keith-sawyer-speaks-at-ipt-seminar/
